We couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers. As the face of our organisation, all 140 of our volunteers are absolutely critical to the success of Helping Hands.
There are so many jobs to be completed every day when you’re running a not for profit with five op shops, and our volunteers turn up to their shifts each week with a smile, ready to tackle the tasks assigned to them. Whether it’s helping to fundraise for and deliver our programs, serve our customers in our shops, or collect, transport, pack, unpack, sort, hang and process the huge volume of donations we receive, there’s nothing our volunteers can’t do! Each one of them comes from a different walk of life with a different skill set, so they all have something unique to contribute.
We know how much our volunteers mean to our customers; at the front line of the organisation, they are the ones who listen and lend a hand to the people who come in to our stores. We’d like to acknowledge the work our dedicated army of volunteers do each week, and thank them for becoming part of the Helping Hands family.

“Volunteering at Helping Hands is one of the one of the best things that ever happened to me – I come not only for the organisation but also for myself. Everyone should give volunteering a go!”
- Cec, one of our wonderful volunteers who has been with the organisation since 2006.
